Integrity Spine and Orthopedics Makes a Charitable Donation to the Jay Fund

This past year, Integrity Spine and Orthopedics made a charitable donation to the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund in support of the 2020 1010XL Radiothon. The impact of the coronavirus pandemic has been devastating for non-profit organizations and they need our assistance more than ever.

The Jay Fund is dedicated to providing comprehensive financial, emotional and practical support to families with children battling leukemia and other forms of cancer. The foundation’s support and assistance allows parents to solely focus on their child’s well-being during a painful and difficult process.

Integrity Spine and Orthopedics is incredibly grateful to do our part to ensure the Jay Fund doesn’t have to turn away any family in need. Keep reading to learn more about their inspiring work.

THE TOM COUGHLIN JAY FUND

Tom Coughlin founded the Jay Fund 25 years ago after he saw firsthand the hardships and strains that cancer brings to families. In 1991, Coughlin was the head football coach at Boston College. During his tenure as head coach, he underwent the painful experience of watching one of his players — Jay McGillis — lose his battle with leukemia. The experience changed his life.

Coughlin witnessed firsthand the physical, emotional and financial strains placed upon the McGillis family during Jay’s 8-month battle. He vowed that if he had the chance, he would find a way to help other families with children fighting cancer. His chance came a few years later while he was head football coach of the NFL Jacksonville Jaguars in Jacksonville, FL. In 1996, Coughlin officially created the Tom Coughlin Jay Fund.

The Jay Fund provides comprehensive support to families with children who have leukemia or another form of cancer. The foundation offers financial support by paying emergency household bills, helping families create financial plans, administering a scholarship program and delivering nourishing food to families. The foundation also works to improve the quality of life for sick children by enhancing treatment centers and building encouraging support systems for children and their families. And finally, the foundation ensures that children and families have a “day off” from cancer to create happy memories by throwing parties and organizing special events.

Since its founding, the Jay Fund has helped over 5,000 families and distributed over $13 million in grant money to deserving families in the Jacksonville, FL, and New York/New Jersey Metropolitan Area.
